Lead advocate for the legalization of
marijuana popularly known as ‘ganja’ has admitted popular hiplife
musician erred by smoking the substance in public.Lord Ramper
says though he sympathizers with the hiplife artiste, users must know
smoking the banned substance in public is criminal.
Kwaw Kese is currently on remand at the Kumasi Central prison in the Ashanti region for smoking marijuana.This was after a court presided over by Justice William Boampong refused a bail application by his lawyers.The
Abodam hit maker is to re-appear in court on December 8, 2014. If found
guilty, Kwaw Kese could spend a minimum of 10 years in prison.In an interview with Adom News, Lord Ramper commended the police for enforcing the law.
“No one is above the law, not even the president, so the police was right for arresting Kwaw Kese because it is illegal to smoke wee in public” he stressed.
Pending the legalization of marijuana use in Ghana, Lord Ramper said ganja smokers must not take the law banning its use for granted.
“You can smoke in the privacy of your home not in public. Even me as an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, I’m against smoking it in public”.
This notwithstanding, Lord Ramper appealed to the police to tamper justice with mercy and be lenient with the entertainer.
Meanwhile Kwaw Kese is said to be in high spirits despite being on remand.
Music producer Edward Nana Poku, popularly known as Hammer of the Last Two fame who visited the embattled hiplife artist in prison told Adom News he is doing well.
He went with mulitiple award winning rapper, Sarkodie.
“Kwaw is very fine and healthy, he is not being maltreated. He was extremely glad to see familiar faces” he noted.
