The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has set up a committee to conduct investigations into the leaked nude videos of a UCC student. The video which went viral on social media about a week ago attracted public condemnation of the young lady and the school.
The committee which comprises mental health experts, clinical psychologists, gender experts and counsellors, will conduct the investigations under utmost confidentiality to protect the rights of the young lady.
Explaining further, the Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Public Relations for UCC, Major K. Baah-Bentum (Retd), stated that as an academic institution, the school conducted its affairs in a meticulous and professional manner and that using social media platforms to condemn and speculate on the issue was not their way of solving the problem. Mr Baah-Bentum disclosed that the welfare of its students was of paramount importance and “we, therefore, refuse to be a part of the current social commentary occasioned by mere sentiments and feelings.”
He asked for sympathy from the general public for the young lady and her family in these trying times and added that the family obviously required privacy as they went through the current challenges.
