Gospel singer Joyce Blessing has explained that her recent chain of electrifying performances are not accidental but rather a result of hard work to prove that Ghanaian gospel musicians are capable of putting up mega artistic performances laced with world class theatrics.
“Show organisers must be given value for the money they pay us and we must stop thinking that because we are gospel musicians, the audience would automatically enjoy our songs, no.
“I see myself as a professional artiste paid to entertain a set of audience who may have paid to come and enjoy good music so when I hit the stage, I go all out and do not just sing but actually rock the stage with a performance worth paying for. I don’t do dull things,” the gospel diva told NEWSONE.
Joyce Blessing, popularly known as the ‘Unbreakable’, was responding to a question on her recent soaring popularity and public praise of her stage shows.
Her next stage act will be on Saturday, March 21 at the Accra International Conference Centre during the GN Bank Awards, after which she is expected to be in the artistes lined up for the April 11 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Already, pundits and followers of the VGMA have started tipping her as one of the most likely performers for the night and it would be a great disappointment if she does not mount the stage.
Joyce has become one of the favourite gospel singers worth writing home about and helping change the perception that gospel musicians in Ghana cannot match their secular counterparts when it comes to stage performances and making the audience go haywire.
