Multiple Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) winner and BET ‘Best International Act, Africa’ winner Livingstone Etse Satekla known in showbiz circles as Stonebwoy has vehemently detained reports that has turned down a bid to become a brand ambassador for telecommunications company Glo in Ghana.
Whiles Stonebwoy was still in America after his BET experience, news went viral that Stonebwoy and his management turned down an $80,000 offer and its associated benefits from GLO because they believed the he deserved more than that.Speaking on Neat FM’s Entertainment Ghana this morning, the “Baafari” hit maker confirmed that indeed the ‘green and white’ telecommunication brand contacted his management to sign him as one of the company’s new brand ambassadors but they haven’t arrived at any agreement yet so there is nothing like acceptance or rejection of any deal.
“I don’t know where that amount and the news are coming from but as far as I am concern I have not rejected any deal and I have not accepted in deal”.
Stonebwoy said even if there is any deal like that, the amount of money involved would not be the only bases to accept or reject it.
“In contracts like that I don’t think money should be the only thing we should concentrate on because even GH¢1 is money. It is the understanding and longevity that is most important. There was a contact from GLO to my management which I got to know about but the said amount is not true. We are approaching it systematically. There was an approach by GLO but I don’t know about any $80,000”.
Asked about how much GLO offered him when they contacted him, Stonenwoy said he doesn’t have any details because he has been out of the country for some time now so it’s his management who are handling that negotiations.
As to whether he would accept the said amount should GLO offer it to him, this was what he had to say “Why not? It is money and everybody needs money even Ghana government needs money”.
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy has also confirmed his reported new endorsement deal with car brand KIA. He said his management and agents in South Africa are close to reaching an agreement with KIA.
“It is true! But they are still on the negotiating table with my management and entire team is still going back and forth. So we are still on it. You know it doesn’t take just one day to conclude a deal like that”.
He however disclosed that the first package and commitment from KIA is a customized unreleased KIA Sorento car in which he was picked up with in South Africa upon arrival in Durban and he drove in it through South Africa during his time in SA.
Stonebowy who represented Ghana with Sarkodie and Samini as nominees, was the only Ghanaian artiste who performed on the just ended MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) 2015.
He has just release a new single "Go Higher" which is already making waves.
