MzVee has revealed that she came from a poor family.The Abofra singer who released her second album Verified last week said this while talking about how to end extreme poverty in Ghana as an ambassador for the World Bank’s End Extreme Poverty campaign.

4Syte TV Awards 2015 'be Yawa'

It had been a highly-anticipated and a well patronised event since its debut in 2009, but last Saturday, the 4Syte Music Awards hit an alltime low and is gradually losing its shine as a premier event that rewarded creativity in music video production. 

In fact, bad co-ordination and technical problems seem to be getting the better of the event in the last three years and last Saturday’s show at the Accra International Conference Centre was no exception. The high expectation of patrons and stakeholders in the music industry were dashed by poor organisation.

Apart from patrons being subjected to late start of the programme, they had to also endure bad sound quality when the show eventually opened at a quarter to midnight -- almost four hours after the advertised start time of 8pm.

Worse for patrons, it turned out to be a “no show” from the Naija brothers on the night, as the advertised a line-up of artistes involving Nigerian stars, Patoranking and Kiss David, failed to materialise. But Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale provided the spark to light up the dull moments when they came on stage to dish out some of their popular songs to the audience. Their performances were perhaps, the “savior” on the night as other acts such as EL, R2Bees among others couldn’t keep the flames high.

Fans will be able to celebrate Sam Sarpong's life in the wake of his passing.The Yo Momma co-host's family have planned a public funeral so all friends and fans can pay their respects to the fallen star.In a statement obtained by E! News, the Sarpong family thanked everyone for their well wishes and write how much they're struggling to grapple with their loss.

"We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to each and every one of you who have reached out to us during this incredibly difficult time," the statement reads.

"Our hearts are broken, and we are struggling to come to terms with the untimely passing of our dear Sam. Your words of encouragement, prayers, and shared memories of Sam have been comforting for us, and we cannot thank you enough."

The public funeral will take place on Nov. 21, 2015, at Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, Calif. Following the funeral service, people will gather at Burial Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations that will help and hopes to meet those who have contacted his family to hear their "ideas to keep Sam's memory alive."

Film Producers Association of Ghana, FIPAG has reacted to actress Yvonne Nelson’s claims that the “never-ending challenges confronting Ghana’s movie industry can be largely blamed on the lack of unity and jealousy among its stakeholders.” In an interview with celebritytvgh.com on Monday, Michael Kwaku Ola, PRO for the association said Yvonne Nelson “doesn’t know what is going on”.

He blamed the limping of the English movie industry on the gargantuan charges of Ghanaian actors.

“The truth of the matter is those in the English movie industry are actors and actors are able to get good deals for their fellow actors. For example if she, Yvonne Nelson is going to shoot a movie with Majid, I do not think Majid will charge her the same fee that Majid will charge me, Ola. I mean there is that kind of friendship between them.

Hi-life musician turned pastor, Ofori Amponsah, says it is not worldly to sing about the love between a man and a woman. The ‘Otoolege’ hit maker, whose latest song, ‘Alewa’ has been criticized to be worldly considering that he now claims to be a pastor in ministry, said this on Citi FM’s late afternoon show, Traffic Avenue. 

Amponsah, who was speaking to Jessica as part of his visit to the Adabraka-based station to present a surprise birthday cake for the station’s 11th anniversary, said “singing about love is spiritual”.

“I believe that love is something that God wants; it is a part of God’s word. Singing about the love between a man and a woman is not worldly music; it is absolutely spiritual music. It is the kind of music that heals people,” he said.

Ofori Amponsah recently returned to the hi-life music scene by releasing the “Alewa” track with Sarkodie. The song has been met with mixed reactions, with some criticizing the artiste for returning to “secular” music after announcing that he was devoting time to preaching the word of God. Ofori Amponsah, however, insists that it is not wrong for him to be a Christian and still sing about love.

Popular actress Yvonne Nelson has said the never ending challenges confronting Ghana’s movie industry can be largely blamed on the lack of unity and jealousy among its stakeholders.The actress said the industry, especially English-speaking movies, is currently limping on “one leg” and risks a total collapse.

According to her, stakeholders do not wish each other well but rather look out for negatives to discredit each other to the detriment of the entire industry.

“It looks like there is too much envy in the movie industry. Instead of focusing on building the industry, when something happens and it is negative, they want to capitalise on it. It is like everybody wants to suck your blood out. When something is negative then they are happy. It saddens me and that is why we are where we are now. The movie industry is like on one leg. A year will come that we will shoot only two English movies.

I have had a long-term relationship with Kaywa but for once, it was very refreshing to hear him endorse ”Mansa” as the true meaning of highlife music”.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service have gone for a copy of the audio recording that had Dancehall artist, Shatta Wale accusing his manager, Bulldog of murdering an unnamed personality in the entertainment industry.
