Fans will be able to celebrate Sam Sarpong's life in the wake of his passing.The Yo Momma co-host's family have planned a public funeral so all friends and fans can pay their respects to the fallen star.In a statement obtained by E! News, the Sarpong family thanked everyone for their well wishes and write how much they're struggling to grapple with their loss.
"We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to each and every one of you who have reached out to us during this incredibly difficult time," the statement reads.
"Our hearts are broken, and we are struggling to come to terms with the untimely passing of our dear Sam. Your words of encouragement, prayers, and shared memories of Sam have been comforting for us, and we cannot thank you enough."
The public funeral will take place on Nov. 21, 2015, at Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, Calif. Following the funeral service, people will gather at Burial Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations that will help and hopes to meet those who have contacted his family to hear their "ideas to keep Sam's memory alive."
Sam, 40, died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, Calif. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, he died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena. The office said the cause of his death is ruled a suicide, while an autopsy is pending.
"It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel "Sam" Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away," his agent said Oct. 28.
"The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time."
Sarpong made his onscreen debut when he was just 11-years-old in an episode of My So-Called Life. He later became one of Wilmer Valderrama's many co-hosts on Yo Momma, a show that saw the stars traveling the U.S. to find the best trash-talkers.
