‘My Detractors Will Never Succeed’ - Agya Koo

CALCULATED ATTEMPTS by some local movie producers to assassinate the character of the nationally renowned movie maestro, Alex Kofi Adu otherwise known as “Agya Koo” has provoked another level of antagonistic war as the latter has told the former that no amount of diabolic plots can pull him down since he still stands tall as Ghana’s favorite actor.
There are allegations by some movie producers that Agya Koo has grown arrogant due to stardom and that he demands exorbitant remuneration per production which has caused them to opt for cheap priced characters to play his famous roles.

Responding to the allegations in an interview the DAILY HERITAGE, Mr Adu saidthe claimsare baseless which must be discarded.
A number of movie producers he disclosed have on several occasions tried to take his life through spiritual means which never materialized, while others are still breathing threat statements that they will ensure that his movies are not patronized by consumers, adding that some well-known actors together with some crew members who are his friends have been sidelined by these same producers.

Spilling the bean in an interview, Agya Koo identified the genesis of the above controversy to his campaign against movies with pornographic contents produced by these film makers which never reflected the true image of Ghana.
According to Agya Koo, some film makers have since then turned against him and have tried to deny him of his heroic roles in movies.

“Even though I have no ill intention against any producer, some of them plus some marketers have gone to the extent of taking firm plans to eliminate me totally from playing any role in movies," he lamented, adding that any producer who stood contrary was made to face a severe punishment.
He further revealed that the preceding decision became possible as marketers were even warned not to sell or distribute any film produced by him or non-members of FIPAG. This, he underlined will never weaken him no matter how hard they try.

As things stands now, the movie industry, according to his assessment, is gradually collapsing following the failure on the part of some producers to ensure that moral sanity prevailed in every aspect of the content of their movies.
Several movies, especially, the local ones he averred are riddled with scenes of nudity and profane expressions which are unfit for the Ghanaian society. “This is what I stood against and many have hated me for that,” he said.

According to the director of Agya Koo, Isaac Rockson, “Agya Koo is still marketable, popular and above all highly respected despite all odds. We are throwing a great challenge to all producers who want to come on board to cast Agya Koo and see if they will not make extreme profit.

“Agya Koo has been an unbeatable giant and is still standing tall irrespective of the view of some FIPAG members who want to crucify a savior who came to redeem the film industry after the death of Bob Santo,” he challenged.

According to Mr. Rockson, records in recent years reveal that Agya Koo has immensely contributed beyond global imagination of the film industry and should in no be discredited.
