Maame Dokono Turns Her Orphanage Into Rented Houses

To have her peace of mind and long time, Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, has turned all the buildings she used to run her orphanage popularly known as Peace and Love, into rented apartments.

Maame Dokono meant well by establishing an orphanage for deprived and less privileged children, but since her own people decided to frustrate her, she turned her orphanage buildings into rented apartments. Source got this exclusive lead when this reporter checked on the former orphanage – only to be told its being inhabited by tenants and not run any longer as an orphanage.

“This place is no more an orphanage oo! It used to be but not now. I’m now renting a room here” the source disclosed. The ace actress, gender activist and politician, Maame Dokono, who owned and run Peace and Love Orphanage, was arrested together with Mary Anaglate – one of the workers of the home some years back. The two were charged with three counts of operating a home without a license and exposing a child to harm. Her arrest was caused when the police got a scoop that an eight year old boy who was under the care of Peace & Love home, allegedly sodomised a six month old baby. Her orphanage was thus closed down but latter when the court acquitted and discharged her, she could not continue running the orphanage again. Maame Dokono was part of the campaign team of the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008, and a critic of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

When her orphanage was closed, she accused the ruling government, of which she was once a member of, of witch-hunting. Source wishes her well and hopes she founds another orphanage and continues with her humanitarian and benevolent works – as she always say, “It’s a calling. I can’t stop.”
