Yesterday, around 8:49pm,Sarkodie updated his online status asking his fans if he could tell them a story. That post was followed by a very old photo of his in the early days. He captioned the photo “Chale eno easy koraaaa oo lol!!!! them days” . He also added a link to a WAPI event that happened in 2008.
Another update, saw a very old photo during SArkodie’s very first album launch at the Obra Spot at Nkrumah Circle. Sarkodie also added an update that read: “They
used to bounce me if I wanted to show ma rap skills some where.the
smallest chance I get I will show ya what I can do.means of selling my
product that’s is music.”
In essence, to reiterate the fact that, he’s been doing this long
before he gained mainstream attention. We await the continuation of this
story. But we think we know why Sarkodie put up that photo.
Earlier this evening, the weekend
entertainment show on Top FM discussed into detail Sarkodie’s latest
mixtape, #FreePress. The panel, which delved into Sarkodies unhappiness
with how the media is treating artiste, sort of put him on a blast. They
requested that, Sarkodie and management come out with an apology. They
were of the impression that, Sarkodie has disrespected a lot of media
folks who have helped build his brand to where he is now.
From our perspective, Sarkodie did not really like himself
being referred to as an artiste who performed in front of cleaners at
the recently held BET live experience, so he decided to vent out his
frustration. The media is also angry that, Sarkodie added “i did it on my own” in
his #freePress mixtape. Sarkodie couldn’t have done it entirely on his
own, because, if he didn’t get “talked about”, no one would have known
he existed.
Sarkodie’s business manager who was called to answer the critics
said, the media is taking the content of the #freePress lyrics out of
context. He added that, Ghanaian media men should up their game and show up during events done outside of Ghana where local artiste gets invited.
