Ace Ghanaian broadcaster, Kwasi Kyei
Darkwa (KKD) would today appear before a human rights court in Accra for
a hearing of his bail application. The application for bail was sent to the court by his lawyers after KKD was denied one by a District Magistrates court in Accra. The broadcaster is currently in police custody facing the charge of rape brought against him by a 19-year-old woman.
His case has travelled since the last week of December 2014 when the airport police arrested him based on the complains of the young woman.Lawyers for KKD claim the two had ‘consensual sex’ at the African Regent Hotel in Accra. His legal team maintains that they will go back to the District court for the main case but this after the bail application hearing. The case was on Wednesday, January 7 adjourned after the prosecutor argued it received the bail application from KKD’s
lawyer very late and
therefore needed enough time to study it.
