Daddy Lumba |
for the past 30 years”, Daddy Lumba said.
He spoke on Peace FM’s special VGMA live radio coverage on “Entertainment Review” programme hosted by Kwasi Aboagye early Sunday morning few minutes after his performance.
Speaking to Peace FM reporter Eugene Osafo-Nkansah who reported live from backstage of the Conference Centre, DL thanked Ghanaians for supporting him all through his ups and downs. He also disclosed that Ghanaians should expect yet another massive hits from his upcoming album to be released very soon.
Many have expressed disappointment at the performance Lumba put up at the VGMA. It was as though he was reluctant to appear on stage after he was announced by the MC and his band and dancers had to spend several minutes playing and waiting for him.
When Lumba finally appeared on stage, he was dressed in an oversized costume and appeared frail.
The performance was a sharp contrast to the energetic and electrifying theatrics Lumba had been known for over the years.
He started his performance with his all time hit "Aben wo ha", followed by the current Highlife anthem "Nie wo he be to wo (Yen tie obiaa", "Doctor Panie" among other hits from his Repertoire.
He won two awards on the night; Highlife artiste of the year and Highlife song of the year.
