Sarkodie Starts His Own Label, “SarkCess Music”, No More Duncwills Entertainment.

It’s not like we didn’t see this coming, As of now we have little information but the issue in Ghana is when a musician makes it, they start their own label. In the past, we have seen many top artistes like Asem who started from Lynx Entertainment and later quit to form his own label, WBDN Records, Castro, jumping from labels to his own label, Wongye Entertainment and now, Baby Jet Music, Tinny from Last 2 Music to his own label “Kankpe Records”, Dr. Cryme also ditched his “E-Jam records” label to form “Twi Pop Records”, Kwaw Kese from Last 2 Music to Mad Time Entertainment, IWAN from “Bullhaus Entertainment” to “Gideon Force” and more.

In the past, most artistes who decided to go their own way in Ghana fell drastically. We understand that a boy will one day be a man but where is the loyalty in that? Or why would I want to support you with my money and connections knowing you will ditch me someday?

Usually this is done when these musicians achieve success and believe they are better off on their own but this act is also the reason why Ghanaian musicians fade out early, especially when they feel like they can do things on their own better and decide to ditch the team that brought them up.

Our top artiste right now, Sarkodie who started from Duncwills Entertainment has followed suite (as if we didn’t see that coming). He currently has his own label and it’s called “SarkCess” music. Do you think this is a wise decision? Maybe we are wrong and “SarkCess Music” will be affiliated with Duncwills Entertainment
