Wanlov Explains Accent

Ghanaian rap sensation Wanlov the Kubolor has finally revealed why he does not have a foreign accent.

Wanlov, often referred to by many of his fans in Ghana as a ‘Half-Caste’, was born in Romania to a Ghanaian father and a Romanian mother.

According to the ‘Kokonsa’ hit maker who is known in real life as Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, he does not have a foreign accent because he feels the need to assimilate with the masses.

“Half-cos don’t slur coz we feel the need to assimilate with the masses…thus we also wish we were darker”, he tweeted on Tuesday.

Wanlov has, over the years, been consistent in generating controversy about his personality, which has resulted in critics calling him so many vulgar names.

Wanlov and his lyrical twin, Mɛnsa, are known for their unique pidgin rap style, which has a touch of the Ghanaian language. The duo who are known in showbiz as ‘the Foes of Kwame Nkrumah (FOKN) Bois’ are the first Ghanaians to put together a pidgin musical film titled ‘Coz Ov Moni’.

The FOKN Bois were in South Africa over the weekend to screen the second sequel of their ‘Coz Ov Moni’ movie at the Durban International Film Festival.
