Reacting to the issue, Kwesi Pratt slammed the authorities of Aqua Safari Resort where the two including their friends were lodging for being inept in ensuring the safety of Castro and his female friend.
Inferring from earlier reports that the lady did not wear a life jacket when she joined Castro to go Jet skiing, Kwesi Pratt blamed the authorities stressing that it was their responsibility to ensure the two properly equipped.
According to him, the authorities slacked in executing their duties effectively, adding that had they enforced safety rules before allowing the two to go cruising on the estuary, there could have been a positive turn of events.
“They have a duty to ensure that whoever goes on the river is wearing a life jacket. If somebody doesn’t wear the life jacket when cruising on the river, it is their responsibility. Finished! They have a responsibility," he insisted.
He wondered how recreational centres as the Aqua Safari Resort and the Peace Holiday Resort could exhibit such level of negligence and therefore stressed the need for all Resorts to seek the safety of their customers above other things.
“You cannot create such a facility, invite people to come to the facility and not have the presence of mind to ensure their safety. For me, it’s a major issue. Whatever may have happened, we shall discover Castro and the lady either dead or alive.”
He however commiserated with the families of the missing bodies, praying for the bodies to be found.
